Being There is a 1979 film about Chance, a simple gardener with no social experience who is cast out into the world after his benefactor's death. His life changes after he is mistaken for a wealthy businessman named "Chauncey Gardiner" by a rich, ailing industrialist and his wife. His simplistic comments, drawn from television, are misinterpreted as profound wisdom, leading him to a position of influence in politics and business.
